My name is Ann Humphries and 2 of my 5 children have Chiari I Malformation and related conditions as well as a niece and nephew. I was first introduced to Chiari Malformation when my nephew was diagnosed and he actually traveled to receive the proper care. Since then, my niece and my two oldest daughters have met this monster. Jazmin had decompression surgery her 8th grade year in March 2012 and her sister, Alexia, has not yet had decompression surgery. They both have related conditions as well ~ they both have Scoliosis and Jazmin has Brittle Cornea Syndrome (a type of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome), Basilar Invagination and more. I began hosting our local support groups after my amazing friend resigned from them. I enjoy helping people, giving people HOPE and bringing awareness to these monster conditions. Please join me in giving HOPE by fundraising, attending the walk and spreading awareness!
We are holding a fundraising event to benefit American Syringomyelia and Chiari Alliance Project (a.k.a ASAP). ASAP is the oldest organization of its kind supporting research, education, and awareness of these disorders.
Several fundraisers will be hosted prior to the walk including restaurants, painting and more! FUN will be had the day of the walk with activities, food, DJ, raffle items, door prizes and silent auctions! Appearances by special people and more!
To receive a walk t-shirt participants must register before September 1 and make a donation of $30 or more per person.
You can help others like Jazmin and her sister Alexia who are living with Chiari and/or Syringomyelia. Your time, donation and participation at our walk is invaluable.
